Gregory Theisen is a composer and pianist. His career has given him many opportunities for performances throughout various parts of the world. His original compositions have been performed in venues such as the International New Music Festival held in Zagreb, the Lisbon Contemporary Music Festival and other concerts held in Germany and Belgium. His music has also been performed in numerous concerts, festivals and symposiums held in the United States.
His works and performances have also been broadcasted on PBS including “The Greg Theisen Quintet” where he was featured performing his compositions for jazz.
He has performed in numerous Broadway productions including Phantom of the Opera, and the world premieres of The Lion King, Aida and The Producers that were mounted in Minneapolis. Also, he has played with the MN Orchestra including the 2009 Spring European Tour, and many other venues such as the Plymouth Music Series.
“Christmas Passages,” an album that he was involved as an arranger, was nominated for a Grammy Award under the Independent Distributors category.
Also as an instructor of piano, composition, and improvisation at the MacPhail Center For Music his unique approach includes a tailoring of styles ranging from classical to jazz and provides effective tools to play effortlessly and musically.
